Learning Technology Solutions

Audience: Faculty, Students

Overview

The newly formed Learning Technology Solutions team of the ACCC is currently working to revise our web site content.  Please stay tuned for updates!

Introducing a new team in the ACCC: Learning Technology Solutions (LTS). This team brings together the instructional design and software support aspects of the Instructional Technology Lab, with the classroom and computer lab technology support of the Learning Environments & Technology Services office. This newly-merged group will be working to improve your experience as an instructor here at UIC by providing a central point of contact for all of your learning technology needs.

OUR MISSION

To enhance student success and faculty empowerment through learning technologies.

Features

We fulfill our mission by providing and supporting the following services, and offering solutions to the learning technology challenges faced by Faculty and the UIC community at large.

Learning Tools

The LTS team not only provides and supports the Blackboard learning management system, Echo360 lecture capture, web conferencing, media streaming and many other tools for the UIC community, it can help identify the best combination of these tools to meet your specific instructional needs.  Here are just some of the tools we support:

Learning Environments

The LTS team provides a single point of contact for support of all aspects of the common-use learning spaces.  We not only assist with the use of technology in these spaces, we also actively monitor the spaces for any facility-related problems and work on your behalf with Facilities Management, Classroom Scheduling, and other groups on campus so you can focus on the teaching and learning experience!

Instructional Design & Development

The instructional designer staff of LTS offers support for the use of quality design standards and best practices in course design for technology-enhanced, blended, and fully online courses. This includes the exploration of collaborative tools, the redesign of courses to meet accessibility requirements, and the improvement of the course structure in general.

Equipment Lending

LTS offers equipment for short-term loan to both faculty and students

  • Faculty can check out equipment including microphones, laptops, and presentation remotes for use in a specific class session from our Learning Environments & Technology Support office in Lecture Center E room E112
  • Students can check out laptops and mobile device charging cables for a three-day loan from the BSB Learning Center
  • Both faculty and students can check out laptops, camcorders, audio recorders, and more from the Academic Multimedia Lab in the Daley Library IDEA Commons.

Professional Development

The LTS team provides trainings in various formats. We offer webinars and workshops on a variety of topics including all of the basic instructional tools supported at UIC. The goal of these sessions is to help instructors improve their use of technology by providing guidance on the use of best practices for teaching with technology. We also design tailored sessions for academic departments. Online video tutorials are also available on a wide range of topics through our Lynda.com subscription.

Community Engagement

We continually strive to create a campus community that shares best practices for using technology for teaching and learning.
