Log in to a Blackboard Learn site, select Tools (or Student Tools) from the Blackboard Learn course menu (on the left) and scroll down to select Blackboard IM.  This will prompt you to download the Blackboard instant messenger software -- a quick and simple installation.  Once Blackboard Instant Messenger is installed, simply login using your Blackboard IM username and password and you can be available anytime and anywhere!

If a CD or DVD is stuck in a Mac disk drive, and the Mac is frozen or will not otherwise normally eject the disk, manually reboot into OS X (hard reset w/ power button) while holding the MOUSE BUTTON, C key, or OPTION key upon startup.  Upon reaching the Startup Disk screen, release and press the EJECT button.

Blackboard Instant Messenger works just like any instant messaging tool.  Individuals can only see the content that the two or more people are exchanging; no one else can see or hear Blackboard IM chat conversation.  That is, Blackboard Instant Messenger lets you easily set up a group chat by inviting others (select Invite Group Chat from the Actions pull-down menu) and you can save archives of the text-chat to review later or to share it with the rest of the class.

The Quiz Manager allows you to create multiple choice and short answer quiz questions. A quiz can consist of any number of questions and can be presented to Participants during the session. The results are tabulated for your review and can be published for the session attendees to review.

We have seen several cases where people have restored files from one Windows PC to another Windows PC (both of which use NTFS file systems) and then they can not access the restored files or folders on the new PC, even if they are logged in on an administrator account. The problem is small but important difference between the administrator accounts on the two PCs.

To download a file using Mozilla Firefox, right click on the link, and select Save Link As. To download a file using Internet Explorer, right click on the link, and select Save Target As.

In order to use WebDisks from a web browser, please visit webdisks.uic.edu and authenticate using your UIC NetID and ACCC common password. Click on the Content System tab in order to enter the WebDisk environment.

Service: Exchange

Todays post will detail how to import an ICS file into Outlook. The Notes client will allow you to export into an ICS File. This post will show the procedure for importing this into Outlook 2010.

You need to be on campus to do this, near a UIC-WiFi access point. Important: Where the instructions and the screenshots differ, use the settings given in the instructions.

  1. Go to Control Panel. Select evaluation --> grade center
  2. In the tab "Create Calculated Column ", select weighted column
  3. Add each category that requies a selected weight (or individual column)
  4. Indicate the percentage for each of the categories
  5. Make sure all percentages add up to 100%
  6. Click submit
