How do I activate my UIC NetID?

To access many authenticated university services and create accounts, new students, faculty and staff must first activate their UIC NetID. The following information is required to complete the activation:

  •  Social Security Number (SSN) or Temporary Control Number (Students who opted not to provide an SSN on their UIC application were issued a TCN -- a Temporary Control Number.)
  • University Identification Number (UIN)
  • Birth date

If you have all this information, you can activate your UIC NetID now. During the activation process you will have the opportunity to:

  • set your common password, which is used to access many ACCC services
  • set up password reset options such as challenge/response and emergency email
  • set the forwarding of your email address
  • create accounts to enable access to additional services

If you encounter problems activating your UIC NetID, please contact the Client Services Office for assistance. You will need to provide your full name and your University Identification Number (UIN) and the error you received when attempting to activate your UIC NetID.

NetID assignment

Student NetIDs are assigned automatically upon admission. Faculty and staff NetIDs are assigned by the employee's department. Faculty and staff members, please consult with your unit's Phonebook contact person regarding NetID assignment. To locate your Phonebook contact person, visit your unit's Departments A-Z listing.
