How do I connect to people.uic.edu using SSH?

Don't forget!

If you are connecting from off-campus, you must also be connected using UIC VPN. VPN installation instructions are available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.

If you haven't already, first activate your people.uic.edu site. Use the following settings to connect to your account with an SSH client:

Setting Value
Protocol SSH2
Hostname people.uic.edu
Port 22
Username UIC NetID
Authentication UIC common password

Your default location will be in your home directory, which is /home/NetID, and the pages you wanted displayed on your people.uic.edu page should be located in the /home/NetID/public_html folder.

Connecting with Windows

Download and install SecureCRT (free from the WebStore). Any other SSH client of your choice can be used as well. Remember to use people.uic.edu as the hostname.
