An email alias is an email address that forwards messages to a single existing email address. An email alias is not an account and does not have a password associated with it. Email aliases must be requested and owned by a UIC faculty or staff member who will manage the forwarding of the alias. Email aliases are useful for receiving email related to a specific purpose that has only one intended recipient.
An email alias is one of many different ways at UIC to have task-specific, non-personal email addresses. These methods, including email aliases, are discussed in How can I set up a non-personal, group or departmental email address?, where you will also find instructions on how to request each method.
