How do I set up Microsoft Outlook to connect to Exchange?

Have an ACCC Microsoft Exchange account and want to connect Microsoft Outlook 2010+ to it? Follow these easy steps to get it connected! If you need a copy of Office 2010 or 2013 for your UI owned computer, it is available for free on the WebStore.  If you need to install Office on your personal device, you will have to use Office 365.  You can download Office 365 Professional 2016 here. Remember to use your email address and ACCC common password to authenticate.

If you already have Microsoft Outlook installed and are using it for another mail client use the following steps:

 

Outlook 2013/2016

  1. In Outlook 2013, click File then Account Settings and then Account Settings again.
  2. Under the Email tab, click New.
  3. Select Email Account and fill in your personal information: Your Name: <Name>, Email Address: <NetID>@uic.edu Password: <ACCC Common Password> and click Next.
  4. If you get a pop-up asking if you want to proceed, select Yes.
  5. Select Allow when prompted to configure email server settings and click Finish.

Outlook 2010

  1. In Outlook 2010, click File then Account Settings.
  2. Under the Email tab, click New.
  3. Select Email Account and click Next.
  4. Fill out your personal information: Your Name: <Name>, Email Address: <NetID>@uic.edu Password: <ACCC Common Password>.
  5. Click Next and then Finish.

Exchange Online Manual Configuration (Outlook 2010/2013 only):

  1. Exit out of Outlook if it is open
  2. Open up your Control Panel by going to Start -> Control Panel
  3. Under User accounts select Mail
  4. Click Email Accounts
  5. Under the Email tab 
  6. Click New
  7. Select Email account 
  8. Click Next
  9. Select Manually configure server settings or additional server types 
  10. Click Next
  11. Select Microsoft Exchange or compatible service
  12. In the server box type in: outlook.office365.com
  13. Enter your UIC email address (NetID@uic.edu) as the username
  14. Log in when prompted, using NetID@uic.edu as the username and your ACCC Common Password.
  15. Click Next
  16. Click Finish
