Overview 

Blackboard Collaborate Web Conferencing is a virtual learning environment to facilitate real-time online learning. This Web conferencing system is accessed through Blackboard Learn and empowers Blackboard Learn instructors and TAs to create individual (and repeat Web Conferencing sessions) on their own with out requesting a session to be created or activated. 

Features 

Blackboard Collaborate Web Conferencing, ensures that all participants are in sync, regardless of computer platform or Internet connection speed. Blackboard Collaborate sessions can also be made available for public attendance. Blackboard Collaborate will also automatically pre-enroll everyone in the Blackboard Learn site to attend the session(s), and organize all session links and links to session recordings under Course Tools > Blackboard Collaborate

  • Audio - Audio communication via mircophone or headset
  • Video - Video communication via Web cam
  • Application Sharing - Share any application or your desktop with the participants
  • White Board - Group collaboration of white board space
  • Text Chat - Moderated chat functionality
  • Polling - Conduct live polls with particiants
  • Interactive Tools - participants can raise hand, indicate yes or no, leave room etc.
  • Manage - Faculty can create and manage their Web conferences directly
  • Guest Speakers - Invite guest speakers to join your session even without a UIC NetID by sending them a link to the session
  • On-Demand Archives - View recorded versions of your sessions

Requirements 

For users who wish to participate in audio chat their system must have a sound card, speakers, and a microphone. For users that want to share video they must have a webcam installed on thier system. Users who wish to participate in conferences who do not have these peripherals installed on their systems can still communicate during a collaboration session through the use of the text chat tool.
