Overview

ACCC provides learning design and course development services in support of faculty members developing technology-enhanced, blended, or online courses.

Features

The Instructional Design Office offers the following services:

  • Full course development: The learning design team assists faculty members in the analysis of course goals and learning outcomes, student needs, development of course content and activities, choosing and implementing design strategies according to accepted instructional design principles, and directing the faculty to the appropriate source for training if needed. A full description of the process and time commitment is included in the Instructional Design Collaboration Agreement.
  • Learning design consultation: The learning design team provides advice on pedagogically sound uses of technologies for instruction, and assists faculty in locating resources available at UIC to help create assignments, and other course elements, to enhance student learning.

Request Process: To request a learning design consultation or course development services, email us at LTS@uic.edu and an instructional designer will contact you to schedule a time to discuss your learning design and development needs.

Requirements

For full course development services a three-semester commitment, as established in the Instructional Design Collaboration Agreement, needs to be signed by both the faculty requesting the service and the department head of the academic unit. This document is discussed in the initial meeting with an instructional designer from the learning design team.

Applicability

Access to learning design and development services is open to UIC faculty only and must be approved by the department head of the unit.
