U-Print Mobile

U-Print Mobile Instructions

Pharos Mobile Print is a new service that provides users the ability to submit print jobs from an email client or personal device for release from a Pharos print station.  U-Print mobile is available to use via email or by visiting the U-Print Mobile Webpage and uploading a file.  It is also supported via an Android or iOS app.

 

File upload from a mobile device or laptop 

NOTE:  Available for Android, OSX, and for Windows users (not compatible with iOS) .  The only supported printing formats are: PDF, text files, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and images

  1. Open your internet browser and go to the following link: U-Print Mobile Webpage

      2.  Login to the release station with your NetID and Password

      3.  Click the upload button

      4.  Select your file to print (file size restriction up to 50 MB)

      5.  Confirm that the file has been successfully uploaded on the web portal

      6.  Go to any ACCC U-print release station 

      7.  Login to the release station with your NetID and Password

      8.  Select your print job and release it

      9.  Pick up your job at the printer

 

 

 

Send an email from a mobile device or laptop

NOTE: Available for all mobile devices and laptops.  The only supported printing formats are: PDF, text files, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and images.

     1. Please login to your UIC email account

     2.  Send an email to print@uic.edu with the attachment files that you want to print

      3.  Confirmation email from the U-Print system will be sent to you (This email can take more 30+ min. even if your job submitted successfully – Please go to U-Print Mobile Webpage to confirm your job is ready to print)

      4.  Please go to any ACCC U-print release station

      5.  Login to the release station with your NetID and Password

      6.  Select your print job and release it

      7.  Pick up your job at the printer

 

Pharos Print Mobile App

Pharos Print Mobile App provides users the ability to upload documents from a personal device for release from a Pharos print station.

NOTE: You can download the app by opening the iOS App Store or Android Play Store and search for Pharos Print.

Supported Files

The following file formats are supported:

  • Microsoft Office® documents
  • Microsoft Outlook® files
  • PDF files
  • Images (JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP)
  • Text files (CSV, RTF & TXT)
  • OpenOffice documents

 

Configure the Pharos Print App

      1.   Open the Pharos Print app and enter the following information:

           Server Address: print.uic.edu

           Server Port: 443

      2. Click Connect to continue.

      3.  in the login screen, enter your ACCC Common password and Password and click Log On.

              

 

iOS App

When you successfully login to the app, you will see any print jobs you currently have in your que. You can select a print job and adjust the settings for color, duplex, pages per side, or number of copies. To delete a print job from your que, just swipe left on the job and hit Delete.

      

 

Use the native iOS "Open in" command to submit your print job to the Pharos Print app from other iOS apps. The following example is using Google Drive.

      1.  Open the Google Drive app and select the document you would like to print.

     2.  Use the three vertical dots to the right of the document name to open menu options for the document and select "Send a copy" and then "Open in".

               

 

       3.  From the "Open in" options, select "Copy to Pharos Print" to send the document to the Pharos Print app.

       4.   Before adding the document to the que, you can adjust settings for color, duplex, pages per side, or number of copies and the select "Apply Changes" to submit the job.

               

 

      5.  Visit any campus Pharos release station to print your document.

 

Android App

When you successfully login to the app, you will see any print jobs you currently have in your que. You can select a print job and select the Print options tab at the bottom of the screen to adjust printing options for the select job. You can also preview or delete the job selected. To view your recent printing activities, select the Activity tab at the top of the screen.

                 

 

To add a job to the print que from your device, select the Upload button.

*NOTE: Currently, uploading documents directly from Google Drive is not supported. You must download the document first to the device and then upload via the Pharos Print app. The following steps provide a workaround till this capability is added in future updates.

      1 Open the Google Drive app and select the document you would like to print.

      2.  Use the three vertical dots to the right of the document name to open menu options for the document and select "Download".

      3.  Once the document has been downloaded to the device, go back into the Pharos Print app and select the Upload button and then select "Documents".

      4.  Select "Downloads" from the Open from menu and the document you downloaded from Google Drive should be at the top of the list. Once selected your job should show up in the list ready to be released.

      

     5.  Visit a Pharos release station to print your document.
