Resident Hall Network (Res-Net)

Res-Net is the computer network access available in UIC residence halls. The Res-Net connection provides access to the internet.


Res-Net is available in the following locations:

  • East campus
    • Commons South
    • Commons North
    • Commons West
    • Courtyard
  • West campus
    • Single Student Residence
    • Student Residence Hall
    • Polk Street Residence Hall
  • South Side
    • James J. Stukel Towers
    • Marie Robinson Hall
    • Thomas Beckham Hall

ACCC will continue to work with Campus Housing to ensure that all future residence halls are wired for internet access.


Res-Net service is automatically available to you as long as you are a current UIC student or staff member residing in any of the campus residence halls and have a valid UIC NetID and common password. 

Res-Net service is contingent upon acceptance and compliance with both the ACCC Acceptable Use Policy and the UIC Wireless and Res-Net Policy. Failure to abide by these policies will result in revocation of Res-Net service and/or use of ACCC account. Note in the UIC Wireless and Res-Net Policy the daily bandwidth limitation on Res-Net use (as well as the public wireless networks on campus). 


Res-Net charges are part of the Campus Housing contract. Campus Housing charges residents a Technology Access fee of $60/semester (equal to $15/month) which allows access to cable television, wired and wireless internet connections in the residence halls.

Printing in Res-Net uses the same system and has the same charges as printing in the ACCC campus personal computer labs.

Incident Resolution Time

For standard (housing residence) Res-Net is automatically provisioned. For guest connections 5-10 business days depending on the availability of resident (to coordinate access to the space).
