Group and departmental web publishing

Web hosting options for departments, organizations and groups include:

Tigger

tigger.uic.edu hosts the main UIC website, departmental and groups sites, as well as personal websites for faculty and staff. We recommend migrating personal sites to people.uic.edu, which offers more space and better PHP and CGI support.

We are working on a new shared hosting solution for groups and departments who wish to maintain custom sites.

Additional platforms

The University of Illinois WebTools applications are tools for creating website components such as event calendars, surveys and forms, blogs and discussion boards, and html email and email newsletters.

Blackboard is a web-based integrated teaching and learning environment. Primary uses of Blackboard as a web-publishing platform include per-semester class sites and continuous, non-class related sites.

UIC on iTunes U provides access to a wide range of UIC-related digital media content via the iTunes Music Store, Apple’s popular music jukebox and online music source.

Requirements

A UIC netID and common password is required to publish  on the web using any of these web and media publishing resources. Note that it is Illinois state law that all university Web sites must be accessible.

Applicability

Commercial use of University of Illinois web resources is not permitted.
