Your ACCC Microsoft Exchange mailbox grows as you create and receive items. To manage the space in your mailbox or on the mail server you are using, you can move old items that are important, but rarely used, to an archive location. This storage process occurs automatically with AutoArchive, but you can customize most of the default settings.

Note: The AutoArchive feature is removed from any Outlook profile that contains a Microsoft Exchange account with retention policies.

If you want to share your calendar with others who are not on Exchange or an organization that does not have their Exchange system federated with the ACCC, you will have to publish your calendar to the internet. You have the option of creating a public link to your calendar.  Links are not published until they are enabled by you.

There are three levels of sharing available:

Outlook has a spam filter which automatically sends spam emails to a junk folder. Sometimes Outlook can mark legitimate and valid emails as spam thus preventing them from reaching your email inbox. The issue is rather frequent despite the fact that Outlook spam filter is set to “low” by default. Solve this issue by turning off the Outlook spam filter.

Internet Calendars are calendars that you publish to an Internet site, where others can view it or subscribe to it. Internet Calendars use the iCalendar format and the .ics file name extension.

By default, Outlook 2011 will hide the "Folders on My Computer."  This article will guide you through re-enabling these folders so that you can store emails locally on your hard drive. This can be useful if you are approaching your size limit on the Exchange server and need to free up some space without deleting any emails.

Todays post will detail how to import an ICS file into Outlook. The Notes client will allow you to export into an ICS File. This post will show the procedure for importing this into Outlook 2010.

There are two ways to work with another person's Microsoft Outlook folders — folder sharing and Delegate Access.

Folder sharing enables another person to access one of your folders, perhaps while you are on vacation. However, it does not include permissions for one to act on behalf of the other. For example, a person who can access your folders cannot reply to email messages or respond to meeting requests for you.

You can create personalized signatures for your email messages that include text, images, your electronic business card , a logo, or even an image of your handwritten signature. Your signature can automatically be added to outgoing messages, or you can manually add the signature to only the messages that you choose.

If you have Outlook installed at home or on a laptop and want to access it from an off-campus network you will have to install a VPN client in order to set up your Exchange email via Outlook. Then your Outlook would download the setting for it to be used without a VPN.

Alternatively, you can use the Outlook Web App from any location (without VPN).

A rule is an action that Microsoft Outlook performs automatically upon incoming or outgoing messages, based on conditions that you have specified. You can create a rule from a template, from a message, or using your own conditions. You can choose many conditions and actions by using the Rules Wizard. Rules fall into one of two categories — organization and notification. Rules don’t operate on messages that have been read, only on those that are unread.
