Computer Labs

Campus computer labs are available to UIC students, staff, faculty and authorized guests. Several of the labs are available for reservation for instruction or special events. There are some labs that are open 24 hours, 7 days a week. In addition to general use labs, ACCC manages labs with access limited to a certain group, such as residence hall residents or students in a particular college.

Licensed software is distributed directly through the WebStore. WebStore strives to provide the software you need at the lowest possible price.

Symantec Endpoint Protection, SEP, is Symantec AntiVirus® combined with anti-spyware, firewall, intrusion prevention system, application control, device control, and proactive threat scanning into a single client, all managed by a single piece of management software.The combination allows instant upgrades without deploying specific software for each security technology. It protects from from both known threats and from threats that have not been seen before. Symantec Endpoint Protection protects against malware such as viruses, worms, Trojan horses, spyware, and adware.

Many instructors have found it useful to have software and data files installed on our network servers for their students to use. The Academic Computing and Communications Center will work with faculty and departments to make such arrangements.

To install software for Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 through Active Directory Desktop Advantage (ADDA):

UIC students, faculty, and staff can sign up for free ESRI GIS Software Courses Online. Because of UIC's campus-wide site license with ESRI, one of the principal producers of geographic information systems (GIS) software, as of August 15, 2001 UIC students, faculty, and staff can sign up for a number of software courses at ESRI's Virtual Campus FREE. Virtual Campus courses require that you have access to the internet and specific ESRI software, available in certain UIC labs, to complete course exercises.

ACCC allows members of the UIC community to purchase sophisticated statistical applications at a significant discount. In exchange for offering deep discounts to staff and students of the UIC Community, the statistical software manufacturers require that ACCC provides some first-tier support for these applications. We can sell you SPSS (-IBM), SAS, Stata, and SYSTAT. We sell these products to the UIC community via the WebStore:

Renewing ADDA Software Licenses

Here are instructions on how to renew licenses for certain ADDA software packages.

The license/serial numbers for the majority of the products we sell can be found in WebStore. Please note, ONLY the person who logged into WebStore to place the software order can retrieve the codes.

To retrieve the license/serial numbers, the purchaser of the product should follow the steps below:

Browse the WebStore as a guest to see all software offers.  Logging in to the WebStore is the recommended way to determine what specific software you are eligible for. Software offerings may vary for faculty, staff and students.

All software is on the master node. Users may install software in their home space.


There are five editors available:

The following software will be pre-installed on all Tier I (ACCC-supported) FaCT machines.  It is expected that Tier II (College-supported) FaCT machines will receive a comparable suite of software.

To download the software, please do the following:

  1. Visit the WebStore and select Personal Purchase or Unit Purchase.
  2. Click on Order History and log in with your as username when prompted ( required for UIC students, faculty and staff). 
  3. Click on the Download button to download software or click on the order number to view order details, including serial numbers.
