What do the Tiers for the FaCT program mean? (AY14-15 Deprecated)

In an effort to meet the needs of all of the colleges and faculty, the Faculty Computer Provisioning program is being offered in two Tiers.

  • Tier I consists of ACCC-supported machine configurations (found here: http://accc.uic.edu/service/fact/configurations), and in turn are supported directly by the ACCC for any issues with either hardware or the pre-installed set of software (found here: http://accc.uic.edu/answer/what-software-is-pre-installed-fact-machines) for the length of the warranty on the machine (currently four years).
  • Tier II is made available for colleges/units that have defined their own supported machine configurations.  In order to better integrate new machines into their environment, these machines are also allowed to be purchased so long as they are comparable to the Tier I configurations, in return for the college providing all hardware and software support for a four year duration.

For both tiers, the colleges are responsible for paying for the new machines, and ACCC is responsible for placing the orders for the machines.  More detailed information can be found at our FaCT policy page: http://accc.uic.edu/policy/fact
