The Academic Computing and Communications Center (ACCC) is committed to instructor success and will continue to provide faculty with exceptional client services and support as they prepare for the hybrid learning environment that UIC will be offering to students this fall in response to the current pandemic.

There are many factors involved in successful and effective online learning. These include the course design, activities, content, the instructor’s “presence,” the interactions between the students and the instructor, student autonomy, and even time management.

Basic Technology Requirements

  • Device

    Instructor: Laptop or desktop computer. If your device doesn’t come with a camera, use an external USB camera (webcam) for video conferencing.

    Student: Basic Requirements

  • Microphone & Camera

    Instructor: While this may be built into your computer, we recommend using an external device such as a USB microphone or headset and an external USB camera (webcam) for video conferencing.

    Student: Basic Requirements

  • Internet

    Instructor: Either commercially provided (e.g., Comcast, AT&T), or a wireless hotspot through your mobile phone.
