Microsoft engineers have determined that a specific portion of their infrastructure is not processing authentication requests in a timely manner.

They are pursuing mitigation steps for the issue, as well as rerouting traffic to alternate systems to provide further relief to the affected users.

Microsoft engineers identified that reverting the recent change did not alleviate sign-in issues to Microsoft services as expected.

They are now rerouting traffic to alternate infrastructure to improve the user experience while continuing to investigate the issue.
