We’ve changed our name! Introducing Technology Solutions

Graphic of Name Change

We’ve got some exciting news!

The organization known as the Academic Computing & Communications Center (ACCC) has recently undergone significant organizational change. To better reflect the newly reorganized department, we are happy to announce that the ACCC brand is being retired, in favor of a new overarching brand that better represents the central IT functions of the Office of the Vice Chancellor of Innovation (OVCI).

This new brand is: Technology Solutions!

Our name change not only simplifies Technology Solutions’ identity to the UIC community of students, faculty and staff, but also marks another step in improvement initiatives for central IT at UIC. While we are maintaining our accc.uic.edu website for the time being, you will begin seeing branding updates to the site and materials.

Please note that the Technology Solutions brand does not replace the audience-specific brands of Learning Technology Solutions (LTS) and Advanced Cyberinfrastructure for Education and Research (ACER). Instead, it provides a simple, yet descriptive brand and name for the central IT organization as a whole.

What's Next?

Enhanced Wi-Fi

Technology Solutions continues to roll out improvements to the university’s wireless infrastructure, and is happy to announce that enhanced outdoor Wi-Fi coverage is now available on East campus and West campus locations. View maps and learn more: accc.uic.edu/news-stories/improved-wifi

Advanced Threat Protection

Technology Solutions is currently working on a major improvement to our automated threat reduction capabilities with Microsoft Advanced Threat Protection (ATP). This software helps the Information Security team detect and prevent cyber attacks to UIC staff and infrastructure. This licensing provides functionality that is critical in today’s working environment to help identify, deter and mitigate cyber threats among UIC community members.

IT Communications Research

In the near future, Technology Solutions will be gathering feedback and input from the UIC Community on how Technology Solutions can improve, enhance, and streamline IT communications and services for UIC students, faculty, and staff. Be on the lookout for an invitation to participate in the study.
