ADSM-1 down Sat 8AM to Mon 8AM (1 update) [resolved]

The ADSM-1 backup server will be unavailbale for backups this weekend, from 8:00AM Saturday, February 4, until 8:00AM Monday, February 6. This is so it can catch up on vital housekeeping tasks such as deleting obsolete data. Last week's power outage in SEL damaged a power supply in this machine and left it down for 1.5 days. There was no corruption of backed-up data or of its own database and it has now caught up on all missed backups, but it still hasn't caught up with its internal housekeeping chores -- leaving it overflowing with old data it has not had a chance to expire and delete. If it can complete these tasks before 8:00AM Monday, it will be made available again ahead of schedule.

This will not affect the ADSM-2, ADSM-3, and ADSM-4 servers, which will continue to operate normally. You can tell which server you are using with the nslookup command on the Server Address from your TSM configuration, in any Mac, Windows, or Unix command line window

If an emergency restore requirement comes up during the weekend, telephone the ACCC Network Operations Center at 312-413-8080 ext 2 and we can arrange for your restore. Otherwise, enjoy Sunday's football game.
