The ACCC Information Security and Privacy Office has identified brute force attacks (a trial-and-error method used to obtain information such as a user password) against our Active Directory (AD) infrastructure and improperly configured network printers. These attacks originate from outside the campus network and result in accounts being locked out due to excessive authentication attempts.

To reduce the effects of these attacks, we will be restricting access for all Windows Remote Desktop (RDP) and Virtual Network Computing (VNC) sessions at the Internet border. This change will occur on Monday, July 8, at 7:00 am, after which, RDP and VNC connections will require the use of AnyConnect VPN to connect from an off-campus network.
