ACCC provides Exchange Online as the standard email and calendaring service available to faculty, staff and students. Microsoft Exchange Online is a hosted messaging solution that delivers the capabilities of Microsoft Exchange Server as a cloud-based service. It gives users access to email, calendar, contacts, and tasks from PCs, the web, and mobile devices. It integrates fully with Active Directory, enabling UIC administrators to use group policies, as well as other administration tools, to manage Exchange Online features across our environment. All newly hired employees are automatically provisioned with Exchange Online accounts.  Students can enable their exchange mailboxes by visiting the account portal.

Any user who does not already have an Exchange Online account can self-provision one through the Account Portal (authentication required).


ACCC only provides support regarding the provision of an account, any problem aside from that (i.e. how to setup, migrate email, etc.) should be directed to your departmental IT staff. If you do not have a departmental IT staff, we can offer assistance by setting up a service call. Service call are $55/hour with a minimum of a 1 hour charge.

Supported email clients include:

  • Outlook 2016 for Windows or Mac (Microsoft Office 2016 is available for free from the WebStore for UI-owned computers)
  • Outlook 2013
  • Outlook 2011 for Mac (available for free from the WebStore for UI-owned computers)
  • Outlook Web Client with Internet Explorer 10+

Important notes: By default, all resource calendars, shared calendars, shared mailboxes, and distribution lists only work within the ACCC Exchange environment. If you need it to be accessible outside of the ACCC Exchange environment, please include it in the request.


There is no additional cost for Exchange. It is included in the basic services bundle under the ACCC's rate and funding model.
