Security Awareness Month 2014

The first and most important layer of IT security is awareness. In addition to the security awareness and training portion of the UIC Information Security Program, the ACCC Information Security and Privacy Office promotes Security Education, Awareness and News through our twitter feed and we encourage you to .

October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) and each year the ACCC Information Security and Privacy Office prepares an NCSAM Campaign to engage the campus community in security awareness and education.

During the month of October you can visit awareness.security.uic.edu for in-depth information about our outreach themes.

Our outreach themes for this year are:

  • Week 1: Online Safety
  • Week 2: Protect Your Devices
  • Week 3: Data Classification
  • Week 4: Secure Password Management
  • Week 5: Copyright Infringement

This October you can  visit our travelling security booth at the scheduled locations below. In addition to spinning our prize wheel and taking home some NCSAM Swag, you can take this opportunity to engage in security education and awareness and talk to an ACCC Security Officer about your cyber security questions or concerns.

  • Wednesday, October 1 – Student Center East Concourse
  • Tuesday, October 7 – Daley Library Lobby
  • Monday, October 13 – Student Center West Concourse
  • Thursday, October 23 – Student Center East Concourse
  • Friday, October 31 – Daley Library Lobby

As always, you never have to wait for security education and awareness to come to you. The ACCC Information Security and Privacy Office is just an email away and can be reached at security@uic.edu to provide you with the support you need.
