ACCC maintains and operates the StarTel campus-wide public security system. The system is best identified as the 8-foot, blue-light bollards or posts located throughout the public walkways on the East and West campus. StarTel units offer direct access to the UIC Police Department; press the red call button to call for assistance.


Press the red call button on a StarTel unit to call for assistance. Once pressed, the call will be immediately dispatched to the UIC Police. For more information on the StarTel System, please read the StarTel section on the UIC Police's Community Relations and Crime Prevention page.


Any member of the general public who is physically present on the UIC campus and feels threatened can use the system.


Costs for this service are billed back as a universal line fee on all campus telephones at a rate of $1.50 per month per line.
