Virtual Private Network (VPN)

ACCC is in the process of replacing the existing OpenVPN solution with Cisco AnyConnect VPN. Detailed information on using Cisco AnyConnect VPN will be available soon. Please note, once Cisco AnyConnect VPN is made available, there will be a short transition period when both OpenVPN and AnyConnect VPN can be used while all users transition to AnyConnect VPN.

The Virtual Private Network service allows you to securely access resources at UIC over a non-UIC Internet connection. While connected to the VPN, the client software works with the operating system to determine when you are accessing an Internet location that the client should protect. When you are accessing such a location, the VPN client encrypts the data.

  • OpenVPN clients available for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, iOS and Android.
  • Access campus-only services from off-campus
  • Encrypted connection to UIC services and network
  • Site-to-site VPN

In order to connect to the VPN you must also download and install an OpenVPN client:

VPN authentication requires a valid UIC NetID and common password. Request access to specific campus networks.

There is no charge for this service.
