Affiliations provide faculty, staff, students, and external guests with access to necessary services. Faculty, staff, and student affiliations are created as part of the onboarding process. Affiliations expire when the person is no longer associated with the university.

External Affiliations need to be created manually. Departments can set up UIC NetIDs for external affiliates. There are two steps:

  1. Request UINs (University Identification Numbers) for the individuals you want to grant access to from i-card Programs.
  2. Once you have the UINs, locate your unit Phonebook Contact and request them to create the NetIDs.
    The Phonebook Contact should be able to use the create the external NetID using the ACCC Services for External Affiliates web application. Only they can use that application.
